Google Ads "Awaiting conversions": how to check

Last updated Oct 29, 2026

Awaiting conversions means Google Ads recorded none in the last 7 days, which a quiet week and a conversion that stopped being recorded can both explain. Check your store's orders first.

Where the status is

In Google Ads, open the Goals menu and then Summary: the table lists each conversion action, and its Status column says how it is recording. Click a status to read its alerts (Google Ads Help). Google says some status details are still rolling out, so an account may not show every one yet.

Awaiting conversions

No conversions have been recorded in the last 7 days. Google lists three usual reasons: the action was created under 48 hours ago, the campaigns are paused, or the site's traffic is too low to trigger a conversion.

A fourth: after you switch theme, checkout, consent setup or platform, a step can stop being recorded while the store keeps selling. That can look like a change in your business.

Needs attention

There are items to address, but the action has not stopped recording conversions entirely. Its alerts name them.

Misconfigured

Conversions have stopped recording entirely, from a setup error or a broken tag, in Google's words. Look for a tag missing from a new thank-you page or a new domain, or a Tag Manager trigger that no longer fires.

Removed

The action was deleted or archived by hand and records nothing.

How to check it by hand

  1. Note the first day without conversions, and look for a change that day: a theme, a plugin, a checkout setting, a consent banner or a release.
  2. Compare that week's paid orders in your store's admin with the conversions Google Ads reports. If the orders hold while your campaigns run and the conversions stop, it may be the recording that changed, not the sales.
  3. Place a test order with Tag Assistant connected (tagassistant.google.com) and check that the conversion tag fires on the confirmation page.

What TraceLog sees and what it does not

TraceLog reads nothing from Google Ads and cannot tell you what Google Ads received. It keeps its own record of the conversion path you define, beside Google Ads, and checks it every day. On PrestaShop and Shopify, and on WooCommerce from plugin 0.5.1, the store's server also confirms each paid order, so an order counts even when the browser never sent it (why the counts differ).

From Pro, except on Shopify, TraceLog also alerts you when the page stops requesting a Google Ads tag you confirmed beside a conversion. The alert says the page stopped asking, never that Google Ads lost anything, and never why (alerts).

Questions

Does TraceLog change my Google Ads status?

No. It changes nothing in Google Ads and installs no Google tag.

Can TraceLog tell a quiet week from a tag that stopped?

In part. If your store's orders and TraceLog's conversions hold while Google Ads records none, the sales did not stop; and from Pro, except on Shopify, it alerts you if the page stops requesting the Google Ads tag you confirmed. TraceLog cannot see why Google Ads records none.

Do I have to remove the Google Ads tag?

No. TraceLog works beside GA4, Meta and Google Ads and reads none of them.
