Plans and billing

How the session limit works, what pauses when it is crossed, how to change plan, VAT, paying through Shopify, and what cancelling leaves.
Every account starts on Free, with no card. The plans, their session limits and their prices are on pricing; this page says how billing behaves. Prices exclude VAT.
Sessions and the limit
A session is one visit; after thirty minutes without activity, the next action starts another. Each plan carries a monthly session limit, counted across the organization's projects. Verification traffic, staging traffic and internal traffic count toward nothing.
Reaching the limit pauses nothing. Going over it pauses alerts, answers to your questions and Analytics; TraceLog keeps capturing the declared conversion path without sampling, so nothing it records goes missing. Billing & usage says what resumes them.
Changing plan
Open Billing & usage in the organization. Choose a plan to subscribe through checkout; once a subscription exists, Change to another plan changes it where it lives. Paid plans are billed monthly, with no lock-in.
Move up before the limit is crossed, never after: Pro when you need to compare periods, segments or history beyond Free's window, or as your traffic nears Free's limit; Business as your traffic nears Pro's. A project cap only stops you adding another project; changing plan removes nothing and pauses nothing for the projects you hold.
The weeks a project spent on Free count once it moves to a paid plan: detection reads the history TraceLog already kept. When a free project's data would support statistical alerts, TraceLog says so on data health and on billing.
VAT and invoices
Checkout asks for the billing address and adds VAT from it. A business in another EU country that gives its VAT number pays no VAT, under the reverse charge. Your payment method and every invoice live with the payment provider, under Payment and invoices, which is also the only place your card details are held.
Paying through Shopify
A store that installs TraceLog from the Shopify App Store into an account of its own pays for it through Shopify, which invoices it; a store an agency runs on Agency pays nothing itself.
The TraceLog app is not listed in the Shopify App Store yet, and until it is, Shopify does not let a store install it. Write to info@tracelog.io and we will tell you the day it is.
If a payment fails
Nothing is paused meanwhile: the payment provider tries it again. Update the payment method in Payment and invoices; if every retry fails, the organization returns to Free.
Cancelling
A subscription that ends returns the account to Free, with its projects. Free keeps every project's history. If the projects together go over Free's limit, alerts, answers and Analytics pause, and capture continues.
